What’s Happening

displays

04/28/14 Allis Elementary

The principal wants more displays for the cafeteria to help kids know what to recycle adn what to throw away. REcycling was also made an official part of the rules of the cafeteria. Yay!

stop signs

04/20/14 Allis Elementary

We made big stop signs that ask "Did you recycle?" We will attach them to the garbage bins in the cafeteria when it’s meal time, to give people a reminder.

bin signs

04/18/14 Allis Elementary

We made mini posters that depicted a pie chart of what can be recycled in Madison. We colored them and distributed them to all the classrooms - taped them onto each recycling bin, reminding teachers of what should go into those bins, as we keep finding teachers putting recyclables in the garbage.

patrol

12/13/13 Allis Elementary

We did a patrol of 4 rooms and chose a winner. That teacher got a home-made power patrol t-shirt. He hung it in his room for a while to show his pride!

locker signs for reps

12/06/13 Allis Elementary

All power patrol members made locker posters that match and have the pledge written on them, so that students and teachers know who their energy guardians are!

recycling

11/27/13 Allis Elementary

We started recycling cartons today! Power patrol will determine the schedule so that all breakfasts and lunches are covered.

User Submission

10/23/13 Allis Elementary

We will ask the principal if we can take the pledge right after the pledge of allegiance - all at one time! "I pledge allegiance to the planet Earth that we all live on and share. On my honor I will try my best to reduce, reuse, recycle, and unplug to save energy for our world and our health!"

Watt Meter Activity

03/13/13 Allis Elementary

Did you know that a lot of electrical devices use electricity even when they are TURNED OFF?!? This past week the Allis’s Power Patrol investigated these "phantom loads" and learned that we can save energy by turning off these "energy vampires" by using a power strip or unplugging them.

User Submission

02/17/12 Allis Elementary

We could make t-shirts with fabric paint that say People Power Planet and have lightning bolts and the earth and stuff on them.

We could give classroom presentations to explain what we’re trying to do and how the other classes could help, since not every class has an energy patrol person.
